Subtitles and Virgin Part 1

I am getting fed up of large organizations failing to provide subtitles or closed captions on their videos.

Do they think Deaf people are not important?

Do they think it is justifiable to discriminate against Deaf people?

The most recent video clip I have seen if from Richard Branson

I posted the following comment. I don't know if the comment will be approved so I am posting it here.

"I am disappointed with the advert because I can't access them.

with an estimated 1 in 7 people being Deaf or hard of hearing there are no closed captions or subtitles.

So either you have forgotten about Deaf people or you don't want Deaf people to use Virgin?

Sorry for the sarcasm but I am getting fed up of big corporations excluding Deaf and hard of hearing people. Sometimes I wonder who is actually deaf? The Deaf people or the corporations that refuse to listen to Deaf people and minority groups?

I do hope you will rectify this issue.

YouTube does have provisions for adding subtitles so there is really no excuse and is in breach of the web accessibility guidelines.

(In case this post is not approved I have added a copy to my own blog and hope I will have the opportunity to praise the video when the subtitles are included)"

I'm keen on joining Virgin

I'm keen on joining Virgin but was set aback as I had a bad experience with NTL - I joined NTL as they have excellent broadband services but with subtitling on TV / Movies are crap. I had dispute with NTL over the subtitling services over fewl months - decides to withdraw NTL in order to join Sky.

Virgin is taken over by NTL - that is what I am concerned over their subtitling facilities compared to Sky??!

If Virgin are in par with Sky for subtitling services then I would join Virgin for their excellent broadband services....
