This is a step by step of what I did to set up a developer environment for my MSc. The reason for bogging this is two fold
- 1 it is a way for me to make notes of what I am doing
- 2 thought it would be nice to share my experience.

WARNING: This is a live step by step of what I am doing. So scroll to the bottom of this blog to find out if I was successful.

Step 1
A clean install of Ubuntu Deskop 9.04.
Update the system

Step 2
lets do the easy things first and install Ubuntu Server and LAMP

Click System --> Administration --> Synaptic Package Manager

This brings up the Synaptic Package Manager

Click Edit --> Mark Packages by Task

put a check mark or tick in Basic Ubuntu Server and LAMP
then click OK
then click Mark
then click Apply

Through using RSS I have found a link to a free Ubuntu Pocket Guide Book for absolutely free, zilch, nada, no numero, etc with absolutely no catch. You are able to download it uploaded it share it in anyway you want like I have done with this positing.

It is 18:09 I have started the update manager and clicked upgrade.

The wheels on the bus goes round and round, round and round, the wheels on the bus goes round and round, all day long

18:15 got the release notes window and clicked the upgrade button

18:16 asking for my password

18:17 "third party sources disabled" window

18:18 fetching 46 files
