Yo readers. I am considering about moving away from wordpress…. Now put those rotten tomatoes down and let me explain.

As you probably noticed I write everything from a load of nonsense to geeky stuff and anything under the sun that whets my appetite at the time. Some of my loyal readers are only interested in the geeky stuff others are interested in the Deaf stuff and some just wanna know my nonsense stuff. So I need to separate all the stuff so people can pick an choose.

So while Wordpress is impressively simple I am not convince it is the way forward as it feels a bit restrictive and a bit standard. Also I am planning not just to have a Blog but other stuff on my website.

So what I my options
- Give up…. Only kidding … or do you really want me to give up ???? *eek*
- Joomla CMS. I have done a few websites using Joomla in the past and recently done a new one for London Pro Arte (which I hope will be launched on Sunday). There is a lot of potential however there doesn’t seem to be a comment system and have to use a plugin and there doesn’t seem to be a suitable one available. Also I wanna try something different to appeal to my inner geek.
- Drupal CMS. Now this one really appeals to me. I have only had a small play around with it but it feels more robust when compared to joomla. So will be attempting to set up a Blog using Drupal on my local server and see how it goes. I will blog my experiences at some point.

My other problem is also how to transfer my blog from here to the new blog site as easily and effectively as possible. MMMmmmmmmmm

I am calling to my inner geek to guide me and show me the way so I can see the pixel light.

So give those square eyes a rest and have hard drive dreams.

Well I am not captain geek but it looks good when you write it down.

I have been unable to set up a crontab or even the cronless postie plugin. So in the end I had to resort to using an invistable iframe which will run when ever anybody visits the blog. For people who want to know how to do an invisible iframe you simply add the following code to your footer.php file.

I think part of the problem is most of the cron jobs advice are for pre wordpress 2.5.1 and from wordpress 2.5.1 onward the cron jobs are built in to the application. I may be wrong but it will have to do for now until some bigger Geek than me provides a solution.

Time to get on with more important stuff than crontabs such as ummmm (oh boy) this is hard!! what more important than cron jobs… mmmmmm ummmmmm which I had a choice of 50/50 or call a friend! … ummm
